Eligible Ontario residents should expect the Ontario Trillium Benefit (OTB) to hit their accounts Monday, August 10, with payments increased 2 percent for the 2026 benefit year.

The Canada Revenue Agency's annual indexation—an adjustment tied to inflation—bumped all OTB payments up by 2 percent. That's a lower hike than last year's 2.7 percent increase. The OTB combines three payments: the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit, the Northern Ontario Energy Credit, and the Ontario Sales Tax Credit.

The Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit provides eligible residents aged 18 to 64 with up to $1,307; those 65 and older also receive up to $1,307. Residents on reserves or in public long-term care homes may qualify for up to $290, plus $25 for each month in designated college, university or private school residence in 2025. The Northern Ontario Energy Credit maxes out at $189 for single residents and $290 for families. The Ontario Sales Tax Credit provides up to $378, with an additional $378 possible for a spouse or common-law partner and each dependent child under 19.

After the August 10 payment, OTB will go out on September 10, October 9, November 10, and December 10. If you don't receive your payment, wait 10 working days from the payment date before contacting the Canada Revenue Agency.
