Eligible Ontarians will see bigger cheques arrive Friday, July 10, as the Ontario Trillium Benefit climbs 2% this year due to indexation — an annual adjustment tied to inflation.
The Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit, part of the OTB package, rises from $1,283 to $1,307 for people aged 18 to 64, and from $1,461 to $1,488 for those 65 and older. The Northern Ontario Energy Credit increases from $185 to $189 for single recipients, and from $285 to $290 for families. The Ontario Sales Tax Credit climbs from $371 to $378, with additional credits available for spouses and dependent children under 19.
The indexation increase of 2% is lower than last year's 2.7% bump. The OTB is a tax-free payment that combines energy, property tax, and sales tax credits. Payments will continue on the second Thursday of each month through December: August 10, September 10, October 9, November 10, and December 10.
