Rogers Communications has completed its acquisition of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, purchasing the remaining 25 percent stake from Larry Tanenbaum and Kilmer Sports Inc. for $4.35 billion.
The deal gives Rogers full ownership of MLSE's four franchises: the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors, Toronto FC, and Toronto Argonauts. Rogers previously acquired Bell's 37.5 percent interest in 2024 and raised its stake to 75 percent by 2025, making it the majority owner. This final transaction closes the remaining gap.
Tanenbaum has served as MLSE chair for nearly 28 years, overseeing Grey Cup championships, Toronto FC's 2017 MLS Cup title, and the Raptors' 2019 NBA championship. Rogers now controls nearly every tier-one professional sports team in Toronto, owning the Blue Jays and Rogers Centre since 2000. The only top-tier pro franchises outside Rogers' reach are the PWHL's Toronto Sceptres and the WNBA's Toronto Tempo. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter and is subject to league approvals.
