Ryan Reynolds flew to Toronto on Friday, June 12 to watch Team Canada's first FIFA Men's World Cup match against Bosnia and Herzegovina at Toronto Stadium.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw — Canada scored its first-ever men's FIFA World Cup goal but couldn't secure a victory. Reynolds posted on social media after the match: "I was not gonna miss this match. Planes, trains, automobiles to get here but completely worth it."

His appearance drew widespread praise from Canadian fans online, many applauding the actor for showing support during Canada's historic home opener. Some fans called Bosnia "lucky" given Canada's dominance in play, while others saw the draw as a hopeful start for the country's World Cup campaign.

Canada will play its next group stage match later in the tournament.
