Teen killed in North York shooting near Jane and Finch

A male teen was shot and died at hospital Monday afternoon. Police are asking for information.

A teenage boy died after being shot Monday afternoon near Jane Street and Finch Avenue West in North York. The shooting happened around 3:35 p.m. The victim was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Toronto police homicide unit is investigating. An inspector with Toronto police said at the scene: "There is a family in our division who has been traumatized and has a loved one who's not coming home." He also said: "For the person who did this: Get a lawyer, and turn yourself in."

Eastbound lanes on Finch Avenue West were closed at Elana Drive. The TTC reported no service on Line 6 Finch West between Norfinch Oakdale and Driftwood stations due to police activity.

No suspect description was immediately available. Anyone with information is asked to contact Toronto police or Toronto Crime Stoppers.
