A Toronto Police Service constable has been charged with smuggling prohibited firearm suppressors after a package from the United States was intercepted at a border facility.

Nasser Gholami, 47, of Brampton, was identified as the intended recipient of a parcel containing two firearm suppressors that Canada Border Services Agency officers intercepted at a Mississauga facility on July 23, 2026. A search warrant executed at Gholami's home on September 24, 2026, recovered three non-restricted firearms, one prohibited suppressor attached to one of the guns, digital devices, and ammunition.

Gholami faces one count of smuggling prohibited devices, one count of importing prohibited devices while knowing they were unauthorized, one count of possession of a prohibited device knowing he was not authorized to hold it, and one count of unsafe display of a non-restricted firearm. He is set to appear in court in Brampton on November 5, 2026.

Gholami is a Toronto Police Service constable with seven years of service and is currently suspended with pay. Toronto Police Service Chief intends to suspend Gholami without pay following a mandated 60-day period under the Community Safety and Policing Act. A Toronto Police Service spokesperson said the charges laid by the CBSA are unrelated to Gholami's duties as a Toronto Police officer.
