Toronto ranked least prepared among World Cup host cities
Residents fear traffic chaos as city tackles congestion concerns
A new report by Geotab Inc. ranks Toronto last among all 16 FIFA World Cup 2026 host cities in preparedness for congestion, risky driving, and major event pressure. The city expects approximately 300,000 out-of-town visitors during the tournament and has introduced a mobility plan including road closures, infrastructure upgrades, and expanded transit strategies. Residents, particularly in Liberty Village, express concern about the anticipated snarl-up, with one describing it as "gonna be a sloppy mess."
