Toronto drivers should plan for multiple road closures beginning Thursday night through the weekend as bridge rehabilitation work and major festivals bring traffic restrictions across the city.

From 9 p.m. Thursday, July 16, until 5:30 a.m. Friday, July 17, the City of Toronto will close Eastern Avenue between Sumach and Broadview, Adelaide Street East between Parliament and Eastern Avenue, and Richmond Street East between Eastern Avenue and Power Street for bridge rehabilitation work. The southbound Don Valley Parkway off-ramp to Richmond Street will also be closed from 10:30 p.m. Thursday until 5:30 a.m. Friday.

The major weekend disruptions center on two events. Bloor Street West between Dufferin and Lansdowne will close from 8 a.m. Saturday, July 18, until 2 a.m. Monday, July 20, for the annual Big on Bloor festival. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes through the west end during this period.

Downtown, ImportFest at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre will bring closures from 8 p.m. Saturday until 1 a.m. Sunday, affecting Front Street West between Blue Jays Way and Lower Simcoe, and John Street between Front and Wellington.

The City is encouraging motorists to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, consider public transit, and follow posted detour signs.
