Two children and two adults were killed in a multi-vehicle crash in central Alberta's Clearwater County on Friday afternoon, RCMP said.

Rocky Mountain RCMP responded to the collision on O'Chiese Road west of Red Deer at approximately 4:33 p.m. on May 29. A Grand Caravan with two occupants collided with a Jeep Cherokee carrying three adults and two children.

The driver and passenger in the Grand Caravan — men aged 74 and 51 — were declared dead at the scene. The two children in the Jeep, girls aged five and six from O'Chiese First Nation, also died at the scene.

Other occupants were taken to hospital. An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene and closed roads for several hours. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

"RCMP sends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased," the service said.
