Vancouver mockumentary The Dressing Room lands international release in August

The Dressing Room, a Vancouver-based mockumentary comedy series, is set to reach international audiences with its second season premiering August 4 on OUTtv and Outflix, with new episodes releasing weekly.

Co-created by Vancouverites Paul Almeida and Makayla Moore, the series follows the cast and crew of a fictional musical called Balloon Boy. Both creators draw on their experiences as Canadian theatre artists. The show has earned six Leo Award nominations.

Season 2 features a bigger world. "We wanted to build on everything audiences loved about the first season while making the show feel more accessible to an even wider audience," said Almeida. The series stars Irene Karas Loeper, Jason Sakaki, Jeffrey Michael Follis, and Alex Gullason, with guest appearances from Eric McCormack, Andrea Bang, Josh Ramsay, and Laura Bell Bundy.

"Although The Dressing Room is set in the theatre, it's really about people, and we wanted to place our characters in wilder and wackier situations," Almeida continued. "Being backstage gives us permission to turn the personalities, relationships, and comedy up to eleven."

Moore added that the cast and crew shot the entire season over 10 consecutive days, which allowed them to fully immerse themselves in the world they created. "You can feel that chemistry on screen," Moore said. "We were also thrilled to welcome so many incredible new collaborators this season, both in front of and behind the camera."
