Michelin-recognized Chupito is returning to its roots by bringing back the iconic yellow shipping container that once anchored its Gastown patio to a new backyard setting in Mount Pleasant.

Starting Saturday, June 20, the vibrant yellow container will welcome patrons into a lively patio space tucked behind the restaurant at 2450 Yukon Street. Owners Tara Davies and Erick Vazquez have designed a highball-forward, low-waste cocktail menu built for summer afternoons and evenings. Offerings include the Piña y Coco — carbonated rum blend, Palo Cortado sherry, pineapple, coconut, lime, and ginger — and the Manzanilla, a carbonated Dolin Blanc and Manzanilla blend with mango pit cordial. Every guest receives a complimentary rotating selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic popsicles as a "chupito" welcome.

Executive Chef Maria Ponce is drawing from Mexico's coastal regions with a seafood-heavy raw bar menu. Expect tostadas — Atún, Pulpo, and Aguachile — alongside a Plato de Mariscos with freshly shucked oysters, salsa marisquera, and seasonal offerings. Grilled dishes include Pollo Asado and Pescado a la Talla, while weekend carne asada captures the spirit of a traditional Mexican backyard gathering.

"We're incredibly excited to welcome our yellow shipping container to its new home in Mount Pleasant," Davies and Vazquez said. "It has been part of our story from the very beginning and represents so much of who we are. Bringing it back feels like the perfect way to celebrate our fifth anniversary."

The backyard patio operates Wednesday to Friday starting at 5 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served and weather-dependent.
