Chupito Cocteleria is bringing back its legendary yellow shipping container—the centerpiece of its hidden Gastown patio—to a new permanent home in Mount Pleasant on Saturday, June 20. Five years after first capturing Vancouver's heart, the Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded spot is settling into a vibrant backyard setting that echoes the intimate, come-as-you-are atmosphere that built its reputation.
Owners Tara Davies and Erick Vazquez designed a highball-forward, low-waste cocktail menu for long summer afternoons. Highlights include the Piña y Coco, blending carbonated rum, Palo Cortado sherry, pineapple, coconut, lime, and ginger; and the Manzanilla, made with carbonated Dolin Blanc, Manzanilla, and mango pit cordial. Every guest receives a complimentary chupito—a rotating selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic popsicles.
Executive Chef Maria Ponce draws inspiration from Mexico's coastal regions with a raw-bar-forward menu: tostadas de atún, pulpo, and aguachile; a plato de mariscos with freshly shucked oysters and salsa marisquera; and grilled offerings including pollo asado and pescado a la talla. Weekend carne asada brings the aromas and convivial energy of a Mexican family barbecue to the block.
The backyard patio operates Wednesday through Friday from 5 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m., starting June 20. Seating is first-come, first-served and weather dependent.
