False Creek Crab Fest is back for its fourth year on July 26, and this time it's all about honouring the people who pull Dungeness crab from B.C.'s waters.

The waterfront festival celebrates local seafood while raising awareness for the sustainable management of B.C.'s crab fishery. At its heart is a mouthwatering crab boil featuring local chefs including Vish Mayekar (chef and owner of Elem) and Johnny Bridge (president of Chefs' Table Society of B.C.).

"Chef Vish & I are super excited to once again support B.C.'s hardworking Crab Fishers by putting together this Dungeness Crab Boil for guests," said Bridge. "The connection between fishers, chefs and the people enjoying the food is such an important one to us, and Crab Fest is a very special chance to celebrate the folks behind our local food systems and the incredible product coming from our oceans."

The event takes place at False Creek Fishermen's Wharf (1505 W. 1st Ave.), giving festival-goers the rare opportunity to connect directly with local fishers while enjoying some of Vancouver's top waterfront views. Beyond the crab boil, expect live music, games, and educational booths.

Proceeds from the event advance initiatives led by Chefs' Table Society, including culinary scholarships, mentorships, sustainability projects, and development of The Commons by Chefs' Table Society — a gathering place dedicated to strengthening B.C.'s food and hospitality sector.

"Events like Crab Fest help bridge the gap between consumers and the people who harvest their food," said Megan Eadie, executive director of BC Crab Fishermen's Association. "By coming together to enjoy local seafood, we're also supporting coastal communities, sustainable fishing practices, and the future of B.C.'s seafood industry."

Each ticket includes one Dungeness Crab plate, a sweet treat, and two beverage tasting tickets. Early bird tickets are $65 plus tax until June 14. General admission starts at $70 plus tax from June 15 onward. Day-of tickets are $75.

When: July 26, noon to 4 p.m. Where: False Creek Fishermen's Wharf, 1505 W. 1st Ave., Vancouver

It's a day that tastes like support for the people who keep B.C. fed.
