Vancouver's Chinatown has a new destination for Mexican-inspired brunch now that Loreto has officially opened at 219 Union Street.

The restaurant occupies the space that previously housed La Cerveceria Astilleros and, before that, the Asian-fusion restaurant The Union (closed in 2022). The menu balances traditional Mexican flavours with contemporary presentation—dishes like the Chandwich (toasted brioche with eggs, smoked bacon, melted cheese, avocado, tomato, and house chipotle mayo) sit alongside the Loreto Meltdown (slow-braised beef birria and melted cheese on toasted artisan sourdough with pickled red onions and birria consommé for dipping).

Breakfast leans playful: Lecherita Pancakes pair buttermilk pancakes mixed with banana and topped with coconut tres leches cream, fresh berries, whipped cream, toasted coconut, and roasted macadamia nuts.

Loreto also opens for dinner, offering tacos, burritos, nachos, and more. The restaurant describes its approach as grounded in Mexican roots while remaining open to contemporary flavours and fresh interpretations. "At Loreto, every dish reflects care, intention, and a balance of tradition and modernity," the team shared.

Loreto is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
