Some Delta residents may notice cloudiness in their drinking water starting Monday, July 6, but Metro Vancouver says it's safe to drink.
The regional water authority is reversing the direction of flow in some water mains—a process to support work on the new Stanley Park Water Supply Tunnel. The cloudiness is expected primarily in the Ladner area of Delta and will clear on its own within a few days.
Metro Vancouver is monitoring water quality through enhanced sampling and testing throughout the adjustment to ensure the system remains safe.
The Stanley Park Water Supply Tunnel project has been under construction since 2024. The new tunnel will replace an existing water main built in the 1930s that has reached the end of its service life.
