Richmond cafe owner returns to China to care for injured mother, seeking new operator

Jay Zhong, owner of Mino Club Cafe in Richmond, is returning to China after his mother was hit by a car and broke her leg. Surgery on the injury was unsuccessful, and as the only child in his family, he said he has no choice but to go back and care for her.
"My old mother now has a broken leg and is lying in bed," Zhong told the Richmond News.
The cafe at 8171 Ackroyd Rd. in Richport Town Centre initially opened in October 2023 as a children's indoor playground. Earlier this year, Zhong added a conveyor belt sushi restaurant operating in the evenings to expand business hours. Until a new operator takes over, the cafe will continue running as usual — the play area and cafe open during the day, conveyor belt sushi in the evening.
