More than 9,600 BC Hydro customers lost power across Richmond Friday morning

Five separate outages spanning Bridgeport to Ironwood affected homes and businesses. Crews are investigating the cause.

Five separate power outages across Richmond left 9,612 BC Hydro customers without electricity Friday morning, with the largest affecting the area east of Citation Drive, south of Bridgeport Road, north of Steveston Highway and west of No. 7 Road, impacting 3,812 customers.

Other outages included 2,876 customers north of Highway 91, west of Cambie Road, east of No. 4 Road and south of Bridgeport Road; 1,868 in the area from Jow Street to nearly No. 7 Road between Cambie Road and the Fraser River; 931 south of Maddocks Road, east of Garden City Road, north of Horseshoe Place and Riverside Way; and 125 in the 10800 block of No. 5 Road.

BC Hydro crews were dispatched to investigate, though no estimated restoration time was provided as of Friday morning.
