Smoke billowed from a Surrey home housing a childcare facility Friday afternoon, June 19, as fire crews worked to contain the blaze.

Firefighters responded around 1:15 p.m. to the 9800-block of 132 Street. The fire appeared to originate in the basement or first floor of the two-storey house. A second alarm was called, bringing approximately 25 firefighters to the scene.

Crews quickly contained the fire with limited extension. According to Surrey RCMP on scene, all occupants evacuated safely and there were no injuries. The cause is under investigation.
