King George Boulevard closure and lane restrictions hit Riverview Bridge starting Friday night
Fraser Crossing Partners closes southbound access and one northbound lane for final paving work beginning Oct. 16 at 9 p.m., with more closures coming Oct. 23–26.

Traffic pattern changes are coming to the Riverview Bridge (also called stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge) this weekend as Fraser Crossing Partners completes final paving work.
Starting Friday, October 16, at 9 p.m., King George Boulevard's southbound lane at the bridge's Surrey bridgehead will be closed entirely. One northbound lane on the bridge itself will also be closed. Southbound drivers will only be able to exit onto Highway 17 westbound during this period. The paving work is weather-dependent and will run around-the-clock.
"All traffic pattern changes will be well signed, and traffic control personnel will be on site to assist as required," Fraser Crossing Partners said in a public advisory. Information will also be shared via traffic media and posted on DriveBC.ca.
A second northbound directional closure of the Riverview Bridge is scheduled for October 23 to 26, with more details to be announced soon.
The work comes as the region's aging Pattullo Bridge — built in 1937 and connecting Surrey and New Westminster — undergoes its own major transformation. The bridge's iconic orange steel arch, a product of the Great Depression era, was removed and lowered onto barges on the Fraser River over the weekend of October 10–11.
