The investigation centred on two targeted attacks: arson at a Surrey location and shootings at the Langley location. Auto dealership co-owners reported extortion attempts. During arrests in Surrey, police seized firearms, ammunition, magazines and suspected drugs.
"The RCMP's position was we were going to target the higher levels of the extortion and hold them accountable," RCMP Superintendent Harm Dosange said. He added: "Numerous times we sat with the victims, and we heard the same message: 'We came here. Our life's work. We've worked hard. Now people are trying to take that away from us.'"
RCMP discovered additional evidence linking other suspects to extortion-related offences across Western Canada. More charges are expected.
