Goldy Brar, also known as Satinderjeet Singh, was added to the FBI's Top Ten Most Wanted list Monday. The agency is offering up to $1 million for information leading to his capture, up from the previous $50,000 reward.
Brar is alleged to have ordered and aided the June 2023 assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Sikh separatist leader, in Surrey. Four others have been charged in Nijjar's murder and are in custody awaiting trial. Patrick Grandy, assistant director of the FBI Los Angeles field office, announced the addition Monday, saying Brar is "a dangerous individual" and that his photo "will be found on every FBI-affiliated website and social media platform, and will be publicized on every phone around the world until he's caught."
New charges against Brar were announced in July for murder, extortion, and drug distribution. Brar is believed to be based in the U.S. and is thought to head the Bishnoi gang in North America. He is one of 37 people charged in FBI Operation Hard Ball, a transnational initiative targeting Indian organized crime and extortion and violent crimes across the U.S. and Canada. Four B.C. men—Ravinder Dhanda, Gurtej Smagh, Jaskarn Baghri, and Garinder Deo—were also charged in the operation. Dhanda, Smagh, and Baghri are facing extradition proceedings in B.C. Supreme Court; Deo was arrested in France and faces extradition there.
