Man charged after three assaults in downtown Vancouver within hours

A 45-year-old man has been charged with three counts of assault following a series of unprovoked attacks on strangers in downtown Vancouver on Thursday, September 10.
Gregory Edwin Lawrence Brumwell allegedly acted erratically and randomly approached people on the street. The first incident occurred at 9:50 a.m. near Seymour and Georgia streets, where police say Brumwell punched a man in the side of the face as he walked on the sidewalk. About 10 minutes later, around 10 a.m., near Davie and Granville streets, he allegedly spat in a man's face. The third assault happened at 12:55 p.m. near Georgia and Hamilton streets, when police say he spat in the face of another man.
Vancouver Police officers located and arrested Brumwell within minutes of the final reported incident. Brumwell remains in custody.
The assaults add to a recurring pattern of street violence in downtown Vancouver. In August, HOC reported charges had been approved in separate random assault cases affecting the area.
