Metro Vancouver will feel over 30°C this week before rain returns
High-pressure system brings warm, clear days through Wednesday; drastic cooling arrives Friday.
The first week of June is about to feel like summer. Environment and Climate Change Canada is calling for temperatures in the low 20s across Metro Vancouver Monday through Wednesday, but with humidex readings that push it much higher.
Inland areas will hit 28°C on Monday and 29°C on Tuesday, but the humidity makes it feel closer to 29°C and 31°C respectively. The UV index will be high (7) both days — a good reminder to bring sunscreen if you're heading outside.
"Right now, there's a high-pressure system keeping things pretty warm and consistently clear, with a temperature increase in the next few days," said ECCC meteorologist Chloe Katsademas.
Enjoy it while you can. By the end of the week, a Pacific trough will bring rain back into the forecast. Friday and Saturday will see daytime highs drop to just 15°C with showers and periods of rain. Overnight lows will dip to 10°C both nights.
If you're planning outdoor activities, the window is Monday through Thursday — after that, the umbrellas come back out.
