A 58-year-old North Vancouver man has been charged with three counts in connection with child sexual exploitation following a lengthy investigation by Port Moody Police.
Majid Talebi was charged on Aug. 11 with one count of invitation to sexual touching of a person under 16 years and two counts of telecommunication to lure a child under 16 years. He made his first court appearance on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Port Moody Police say the investigation began in spring 2025 after the department received information that a vulnerable youth had been sexually exploited by an adult male within the Lower Mainland. The Major Crime Section carried out what police described as "a very complex and sensitive investigation" that included a tandem civil forfeiture process.
"Detectives worked diligently over the past year to collect evidence and bring this matter before the courts," said Const. Sam Zacharias in a statement.
The BC Prosecution Service approved the charges on Aug. 11. A publication ban has been imposed because the alleged victim is a minor. Talebi is also serving an unrelated sentence, and the charges will be served consecutively to his current term of imprisonment.
