Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender and Canadian men's national team player Sam Adekugbe tied the knot July 9, in a micro-wedding ceremony at Vancouver City Hall, marking a major personal milestone while taking time away from competitive football.

The ceremony took place in the council chambers as part of the City of Vancouver's micro-wedding program, which allows couples to host small celebrations with up to 30 guests. Following tradition, the newlyweds rang the ceremonial ship's bell after exchanging vows.

Adekugbe has been sidelined from competitive play since an Achilles tendon injury ruled him out of Canada's 2026 World Cup campaign. Since stepping back from the pitch, he has remained in the spotlight as a TSN analyst, keeping him connected to the sport while focusing on his personal life.
