One arrested in targeted shooting at Spanish Banks; investigation ongoing

Vancouver Police arrested one suspect in East Vancouver following a targeted shooting at Spanish Banks on September 27, at approximately 4:50 p.m.

Callers reported seeing two masked men open fire on an occupied parked vehicle in the beach parking lot. Police cordoned off a sport utility vehicle on Prince Albert Street near 49th Avenue, which sustained minor damage. As of Saturday night, police reported no known victims.

A major police presence was deployed along the border of Sunset and Fraserview neighbourhoods as investigators secured the scene. Const. Darren Wong is the police spokesperson on the matter.

Police said there is no perceived threat to the public. The investigation remains ongoing, and the Vancouver Police Department says it will provide updates once available.

What remains unknown: Police have not identified the arrested suspect. The condition or whereabouts of occupants in the targeted vehicle at the time of shooting has not been stated. The motive for the shooting and the total number of shots fired have not been disclosed. It is unclear whether the second suspect remains at large.
