Four pedestrians were struck by a vehicle in the Tsawwassen Mills parking lot on Wednesday, September 30, leaving two dead and two others hospitalized. The collision occurred on the Tsawwassen First Nation during a Truth and Reconciliation Walk, though police said the incident was unrelated to the event.
Delta Police Department arrived at the scene and said the driver may have experienced a medical emergency before the collision. "At this point it appears to be a medical incident. Four pedestrians have been struck and are being dealt with by Emergency Health Services," the department said on X. The two injured were transported to hospital. The investigation is in its early stages, and the identities of the driver, those killed, and those injured have not been released.
Tsawwassen First Nation said in a statement: "Out of respect for Tsawwassen First Nation families and ongoing response efforts, we will not be providing additional details at this time." Police said there is no ongoing risk to public safety. The First Nation thanked Delta Police Department and emergency responders for their assistance.
