National Indigenous Peoples Day was celebrated at Inspire in Airdrie on June 21 with performances and teachings from local Indigenous communities.

The event featured performances from representatives of the Îyârhe Nakoda, Tsuut'ina and Métis communities. The celebration was emceed by Blackfoot Elder Lance Scout and Adrian Pruden, a member of the Métis nation and Circle Connections for Reconciliation.

Airdrie sits in Treaty 7 territory. The city has made a concerted effort in recent years to advance reconciliation through various initiatives, including this event alongside Circle Connections for Reconciliation.
