Rocky View Schools is inviting families, students, and community members in Airdrie to help choose a name for a new Kindergarten–Grade 9 school currently under construction in the South Windsong neighbourhood.
The school board welcomes suggestions that reflect the community's history, landscape, values, or future. Community members can submit ideas through RVSEngage. The naming committee will review public submissions, discuss potential names, and provide recommendations to the RVS Board of Trustees. The board will select its preferred name and submit it to the Government of Alberta for final approval.
RVS is also seeking parents, guardians, students, and community members to serve on an ad hoc naming committee. Committee members must attend two in-person meetings at the RVS Education Centre in Airdrie: Nov. 17 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and Dec. 1 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Applications to join the naming committee close on Nov. 6. Submissions for school name suggestions will be accepted until Nov. 15.
As HighOnCity reported in October 2026, Rocky View Schools held a groundbreaking ceremony for another new K–9 school in Airdrie's Bayview neighbourhood, marking the first RVS facility in that area.
When will the Alberta government make its final decision on the school's name after the RVS Board selects its preferred choice?
