Man dies in suspicious assault at Tomkins Park

Calgary police are investigating a suspicious death that occurred Saturday evening in Tomkins Park on 17th Avenue S.W. Officers responded around 5:05 p.m. to reports of an assault in the 800 block of the park. When they arrived, a man was found in medical distress. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead on scene. One person was taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
