The Okotoks community came together on July 6, to support 17-year-old Kolton Byerley and his family, who are facing the possibility that Kolton may not be here for Christmas as he continues his battle with cancer.

MyCityCare Okotoks held a "Christmas in July" toy drive in the Walmart parking lot, collecting gifts, games, and cash donations. All proceeds went directly to the Byerley family to benefit Kolton and his five siblings: Eva, 8, Myles, 9, Noah, 11, Liam, 12, and Weston, 19.

"It's all going directly to the Byerley family," said Lada Phillips, MyCityCare Okotoks' volunteer program coordinator.

The drive raised $1,240 in cash and $700 in gift cards. For those still wanting to donate, Phillips said supporters can e-transfer the family directly at byerleys@outlook.com.
