Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary ranked 12th globally for pediatrics in Newsweek and Statista's 2026 rankings of the world's best hospitals. Edmonton's Stollery Children's Hospital placed 40th, putting two Alberta hospitals in the world's top 40 for pediatric care.
The rankings, covering 12 medical fields, were compiled from a worldwide online survey conducted May to July 2025. Methodology included recommendations from medical professionals, accreditation data, certifications, and patient-reported outcomes.
Globally, Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto ranked 1st for pediatrics, with standout treatment in neonatology and oncology. BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver ranked 8th. Other Canadian hospitals in the top 100 included IWK Health Centre in Halifax at 62nd, Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario in Ottawa at 75th, and CHU Sainte-Justine in Montreal at 76th.
Beyond pediatrics, Calgary hospitals appeared across specialties. Foothills Medical Centre ranked 114th globally for endocrinology, 121st for orthopedics, and 211th for cardiology. Tom Baker Cancer Centre ranked 293rd globally for oncology.
