The University of Calgary has been ranked 249th in the QS World University Rankings 2027, placing it among the world's top universities in international higher education.

The QS evaluated a pool of more than 8,000 universities to create its list of 1,500 top institutions. The U of C scored 51.5 out of 100, with an academic reputation score of 48.6 and employer reputation score of 39.3.

QS measured employer reputation by surveying employers worldwide about which universities produce graduates they seek. Academic reputation was assessed through surveys of academic experts nominating schools based on their area of expertise. QS stressed these are two of the most important ranking indicators.

"They provide unique tangible insights into the slippery concept of institutional reputation, driven by survey data that is unmatched in its scale in the sector," QS said.

The U of C also scored 55.9 in employment outcomes, measuring how well graduates achieve success in careers across business, arts, politics, and other fields.

"For many students, a successful career is the primary goal of their university education and therefore is important to measure an institution's track record in this field," QS noted.

Four Canadian schools placed in the global top 100: McGill University ranked 30th, the University of Toronto at 32nd, the University of British Columbia at 45th, and the University of Alberta at 96th. The full ranking is available online.
