Three students were injured after bear spray was used inside a Calgary high school on Tuesday, police said. The incident was reported at Nelson Mandela High School in Martindale, in northeast Calgary. Calgary Police Service is investigating, and the injuries are described as minor. Calgary Fire Department crews were called to help ventilate the building.

Police have not released details about the victims or any suspect, and the investigation is ongoing. Reports said someone used the spray inside the school.

A separate incident involving bear spray at a northwest Calgary high school was reported earlier this week. Calgary police said officers were called to St. Francis High School after reports of a fight involving several youths. Police allege a group arrived in a vehicle and approached students, and four students were bear sprayed in that incident. HighOnCity reported on that attack on October 21. Reports from the two incidents differ on the school name, the location and the number of students hurt, and it is not yet clear whether the two events are connected.
