Cyclist killed in NE collision; Centre Street closed

A vehicle struck a cyclist traveling north on Centre Street near 19 Avenue around 1:35 p.m. Saturday. The driver remained at the scene.

A cyclist is dead after being struck by a vehicle traveling in the same direction on Centre Street North in northeast Calgary Saturday afternoon.

The collision happened around 1:35 p.m. between 19 and 21 avenues. Police say the vehicle that struck the cyclist continued moving, hitting a parked vehicle before stopping at the 21 Avenue intersection.

The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver received medical treatment on site.

Centre Street North remains closed in both directions between 19 and 21 avenues while Calgary police traffic investigators examine the scene.
