Calgary police have responded to four shootings over three days, all since Friday's National Day Against Gun Violence.
The most recent incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the 4000 block of 104 Avenue NE, with no injuries reported and an investigation ongoing.
Friday morning, a man showed up at a southeast Calgary home seeking help after being shot. Police believe he was shot inside a home on the 1400 block of 44 Street, near Forest Lawn High School, then fled with a man and woman who left before police arrived.
That same evening, two men were shot at an apartment building on the Beltline around 10:50 p.m. One man was initially in critical condition but upgraded to stable with life-altering injuries. A second victim was discovered at the hospital in stable condition with life-altering injuries. Police took a driver into custody but said no one is in custody for the shooting itself, with no active risk to the public.
Saturday around 2:40 a.m., a man was found with a gunshot wound to his leg under a bridge downtown on the 400 block of 5 Avenue SE. Police believe he was approached by two unknown men who wanted his belongings, and the situation escalated to a physical fight before the victim was shot. He was treated for minor injuries.
Acting Staff Sergeant Corey Der said the pattern is concerning. "It's troubling to see firearm-related incidents continue to happen across the city, causing real harm and fear in our communities," he said, adding that police rely on public information to address gun violence.
