A man is in hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries after falling onto LRT tracks and being struck by a CTrain at Westbrook station in southwest Calgary Saturday evening around 6 p.m.

Calgary police say the man was walking on the east platform when he fell onto the tracks. An inbound CTrain then entered the station and struck him. He was rushed to hospital, where he remains.

Investigators are examining impairment on the part of the victim as a factor. The CTrain's speed is not being considered a factor in the incident.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
