Calgary police say there is no end in sight to the search for 11-year-old Parker, even as the effort entered its seventh day on July 23.
Acting Staff Sgt. Scott Guterson said police have received 400 tips and viewed 1,000 clips of footage from 150 different locations across the city. Parker's disappearance has been the longest missing-persons case involving a child Guterson has encountered. "There may come a time when we have exhausted all the reasonable searches for Parker," Guterson said. "But that day is not today."
Parker was reported missing between 11:08 a.m. and 11:41 a.m. on July 16 from the 0 to 100 block of Connaught Drive N.W., with clothes believed to belong to him found in the 0 to 100 block of Northmount Drive N.W. He is 4 feet 11 inches tall, approximately 90 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing grey shorts and black noise-cancelling headphones. Parker is autistic and non-verbal.
Police have reason to believe Parker is still alive and may have accessed food and water in a vacant home. Guterson asked owners of vacant units along Travis Street N.E., Travis Crescent N.E., Trail Drive N.E., Taylor Crescent N.E., Travis Place N.E., and Thomas Street N.E. to check them, even if they are on vacation. More than 7,000 kilometres have been covered by search teams so far.
