A person injured in an officer-involved shooting on Deerfoot Trail S.E. near Memorial Drive S.E. on Sunday, June 21, has died, according to police.

The shooting happened when officers responded to multiple reports about a dangerous driver on Deerfoot Trail. Police say the same person was responsible for driving erratically and fleeing from police over the previous 24 hours. When officers attempted to arrest the driver, shots were fired. Multiple officers used a variety of tools during the confrontation, and one officer discharged their firearm.

No officers or members of the public were injured in the incident. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is investigating.
