Calgary police have released photos and names of suspects in a long-running extortion series targeting the city's South Asian community, seeking public tips as investigators work to identify offenders and prevent further violence.

Since April 2025, there have been 49 extortion-related incidents in Calgary, including 19 shootings involving both victims and suspects. Sixteen people have been charged with 56 offences linked to the investigation. Police say the city saw nine extortion-related shootings in the first 60 days of this year.

"Let me be very clear, we will not stop until everyone involved in these series of crimes is identified and held accountable," says CPS Supt. Jeff Bell.

Investigators caution that some charged individuals may be known in the community by different names or nicknames. Bell noted that some have legal documents from different countries and Canada, and could conceivably have multiple names. Police are still trying to locate Germanjeet Singh, who is wanted on warrants related to an extortion case, and are seeking help identifying suspects and vehicles in incidents in Cityscape and Saddle Ridge.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
