Edmonton's omakase scene just expanded south of the river, and it's tiny by design.

Sushi Bar Goshen opened for soft service on June 3 at 2846 James Mowatt Trail SW. The 10-seat counter is the whole restaurant — an intimate setup where chefs with over 20 years of experience guide diners through a menu that changes daily based on what arrives from Japan that morning.

Omakase translates to "I'll leave it up to you," and the restaurant's team leans into that philosophy. "More than serving sushi, we hope to share memorable moments around the counter, build lasting connections, and welcome each guest as part of the Sushi Bar Goshen story," they wrote on Instagram.

The seafood is imported directly from Japan and prepped with meticulous attention. The daily menu posts on Instagram each morning, though courses can shift even after being announced — a sign that freshness drives the lineup, not advance planning.

Weekday service runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with extended evening hours from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The kitchen closes Tuesdays. Walk-ins are welcome on weekdays at the top of each hour; weekends accept walk-ins only at 5 p.m., 7 p.m., or 9 p.m., subject to capacity.

Reservations go through their Instagram or sushibargoshenn@gmail.com. With just 10 seats and serious sourcing behind every plate, this one will fill fast.
