Station Park food hall reopens with rotating vendors

Station Park has reopened with a new food hall concept featuring rotating vendors, giving businesses like Menya Mori a chance to test the Whyte Avenue market.

Allen Gao, owner of Menya Mori — a ramen-focused spot that launched over a year ago — said the opportunity to operate in one of Edmonton's busiest neighborhoods is exciting.

"I think this is a pretty unique opportunity that we're presented to be in one of the busiest and most kind of vibrant communities in Edmonton," Gao said.

This is the second food hall concept to occupy the space. The previous tenant cited lack of parking and foot traffic as reasons for leaving. Beljan Development, the operator, declined to speak on camera but said they're building the right team and partners to support the business through events, markets, and an evolving vendor roster.

Four restaurants opened Thursday: Menya Mori, Hello Mochi, Dorinku, and Japonais. The operator plans to rotate new vendors every three weeks to give customers reasons to return and explore.

Gao emphasized the importance of testing customer appetite firsthand. "The most important thing is to see if customers actually care or not because we can talk about it all day long, but at the end of the day I think it's the people that will come out and support," he said.

The revolving-door model should tell Beljan whether the neighborhood is ready to support a permanent food destination.
