Bishnoi gang's letter to Canadian police disclosed by CBC News

A letter signed by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and sent to Abbotsford Police has surfaced through an Access to Information Act request, revealing explicit threats against Canadian law enforcement and government officials.
The letter, obtained by CBC News and released through exhibits from an Immigration and Refugee Board hearing, was signed "Lawrence gang from India" and addressed to Canada's "defence minister, army and police." The full text had never been made public before a reporter.
"We are giving you a written warning and challenge," the gang wrote in the letter, which was riddled with spelling errors and lacked punctuation. "We are Indian gang Canada has no guts to stop us is that clear — we will rule in CANADA now no one can stop us we are very powerful."
The letter claimed the gang has more than 5,000 members in Canada and stated they possess "more guns" than police. "This is our time now Indian we have more than 5000 gang member in Canada they can do shooting for only $1000 can you stop us no way. You will see we will takeover CANADA soon," the gang wrote.
Documents disclosed reveal a year-long investigation into the group behind extortion, shootings, arson and fraud. Canada Border Services Agency identified two Edmonton-based suspects in their early 20s — Amitoz Bajwa and Sahibjot Singh — as linked to Bishnoi-related extortion cases. Both were implicated in shootings and threats against victims in Alberta, Ontario and British Columbia.
The CBSA has released a "Tactical Guide" tracing the gang's growth in Canada from 2023 to late 2025. Lawrence Bishnoi has been jailed in India since 2015 but built an international organization from behind bars. A second figure, Goldy Brar, obtained a student permit in 2017 for Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops but the CBSA noted it is unclear whether Brar actually attended classes. Brar filed a refugee claim in 2019 that was deemed abandoned in 2022. Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi split last year, becoming rivals, and Brar's current whereabouts are unknown.
