Edmonton police say a 69-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in southeast Edmonton early Thursday morning.

The Edmonton Police Service believes the pedestrian was crossing 23 Avenue at 50 Street using a crosswalk against the light when she was hit by an SUV around 12:10 a.m. The 17-year-old boy behind the wheel remained on scene. Three other passengers were in the vehicle at the time.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the collision. The EPS major collision investigations section (MCIS) is investigating and seeking witnesses and dashcam footage from the area.
