Two more Edmonton-area men charged with first-degree murder in 2020 poisoning death

Two men—Harmanjot Chumber, 24, from Edmonton, and Dalvir Sidhu, 33, from Rockyview County—were charged on July 16 with first-degree murder and attempted murder in connection with the death of Sahil Grewal, an 18-year-old who died in hospital on April 6, 2020, three days after consuming a mixture of cough syrup and fentanyl.
They are described as parties to the offence alongside Mohit Sandhu, now 24, who was charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder on July 7, 2025. Police say the attempted murder charge in Sandhu's case reflects that the substance was also allegedly intended for a second person, who did not receive or consume it.
Both Chumber and Sidhu are scheduled to appear in court next month. The allegations against them have not been tested in court.
