On June 20, 2024, EMS responded to Bennett in medical distress at Blue Quill Garden Apartments at 12025 25 Ave. He was transported to hospital, where he later died. At the time, his death was classified as medical.
In May 2025, police received information that prompted a reinvestigation and second autopsy. That examination determined Bennett died from a gunshot wound — not natural causes.
