Edmonton police are appealing for public tips after a man was discovered with a gunshot wound in the river valley near Walterdale Bridge.
On May 25 at approximately 10:35 p.m., officers responded to Queen Elizabeth Park over a report of an injured man. Using Air 1, police located the victim on the riverbank near the south end of the Walterdale Bridge. The man, who was suffering a gunshot wound, was taken to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.
Detective Daniel Van Den Berg of the EPS Investigative Response Team said in a Friday press release that police are hopeful the extended daylight hours in late May may help. "Given the time of year and longer daylight hours, we're hopeful that Edmontonians enjoying Queen Elizabeth Park that day may recall seeing an injured male or overhearing an altercation," he said.
