RavenWood Guitar Giveaway Returns With Custom Build at Stake
Youth under 18 can enter an essay contest for a chance to win a custom-built guitar at the RavenWood Music Festival in July.
For the third year, RavenWood Music Club is giving away a custom-built guitar to a young musician in Strathcona County, and this year's contest is open now.
Partnered with craftsman Brent Clifford and Solo Guitars out of Ontario, RavenWood will present the one-of-a-kind instrument to the winner at the RavenWood Music Festival on Saturday, July 11. The guitar sits center stage during the headlining act—a moment designed to inspire.
The contest is open to anyone under 18, regardless of skill level. The ask is simple: submit a short essay (up to 500 words) reflecting on how music has influenced or inspired your life. Personal stories, experiences, and reflections welcome. The goal is to remove barriers for young people who love music but can't afford an instrument.
RavenWood president Bill Roberts describes the judging process as both tough and meaningful. "Once we receive all the entries, we sit down as a board and read them together. It is really hard for us to come up with a winner because some of the letters are so heartfelt and emotional."
The deadline is Friday, June 19 at 11:59 p.m. Submit essays to ravenwoodexperience@gmail.com. For full rules and details, visit ravenwoodexperience.com/contest.
This is the kind of contest that bridges music education and actual opportunity. A custom guitar isn't an afterthought prize—it's a real investment in someone's creative future.
