Ottawa police seek suspect in Meadowlands Drive taxi robbery and assault

Ottawa Police are asking for help identifying a man in connection with an assault and theft that happened on Meadowlands Drive on Friday, June 19, around 3 p.m.
A taxi driver had been called to the 1100 block for a pickup when an unknown male passenger assaulted him, then stole cash from the vehicle before fleeing the area.
The suspect is described as a man in his late 20s to early 30s, approximately 190 to 200 lbs., with dark hair in a short ponytail and a short dark beard. At the time, he was wearing a white T-shirt, dark pants, and white Adidas running shoes. He was carrying a black backpack and a blue reusable shopping bag.
