Two teenagers have been charged following a stabbing at Mooney's Bay Park on May 30 that left one victim in critical condition.
Ottawa police responded to the Terry Fox Athletic Facility on Riverside Drive around 8:53 p.m. that evening after a fight broke out. An 18-year-old man was stabbed and a 16-year-old girl suffered minor lacerations. Police provided medical care before paramedics arrived; the injured man was stabilized en route to hospital.
On June 25, nearly a month after the altercation, police charged a 16-year-old with two counts each of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon, plus possession of a dangerous weapon and carrying a concealed weapon. A 15-year-old was charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon. Both youths' identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
